Awarded the Most Ethical Tea Brand by The Ethical Consumer, Hampstead Organic Tea was founded on the belief that tea should be regenerative to the earth. Every single one of their teas and ingredients is certified organic and fair-trade, with a selection of blends also employing biodynamic farming practises, preserving biodiversity and protecting soil quality by avoiding synthetic pesticides and fertilizers.

Hampstead was also the first tea brand to bring stitched (not glued) tea bags to the UK, as well as completely plastic-free and compostable packaging and sachets.

Description: The secret to Hampstead's signature, award-winning Darjeeling black tea is its origin: the Makaibari Tea Garden, located in Darjeeling, India at the foothills of the Himalayas. The first tea estate in the world to be certified organic in 1988, and then the first to gain Fairtrade and Biodynamic certification in 1993, their tea is grown using regenerative farming methods, where only the highest quality leaves are hand plucked and withered before being rolled by master teamen. The result is an aromatic and flavourful cup of tea that brews to a lovely light amber. 

Darjeeling, India is world-renowned for growing exquisite soft teas. Producing only small quantities of its teas each year, the flavour is so distinctly specific to their soil and climate, they have achieved "Geographical Indication" - the same status as Champagne grapes!

Not only is the flavour of Darjeeling so distinct—it's commonly referred to as having the characteristics of muscat grapes—its relatively small production quantities make it, specifically the early harvests, or flushes, particularly prized.
